The 30th anniversary International Exhibition and Conference KIOGE 2026 has opened in Almaty.
QazaqGaz Onimderi LLP, the operator of compressed and liquefied natural gas within the National Company QazaqGaz JSC group, presented its model and technological solutions in the natural gas sector at the exhibition.
One of the company’s key objectives is to develop and promote natural gas as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly motor fuel and to expand its use in the transport sector.
How is LNG produced?
▪ The production process begins with natural gas preparation: the gas is cleaned of mechanical impurities, sulfur compounds, carbon dioxide and moisture.
▪ Heavy hydrocarbons, which can affect equipment performance at low temperatures, are then removed from the gas.
▪ The prepared gas enters the liquefaction unit, where it is gradually cooled to about −162 °C and turns from a gaseous into a liquid state.
▪ After liquefaction, excess nitrogen is removed — the nitrogen content of commercial LNG is 1% or less.
▪ The finished LNG is transferred to cryogenic tanks, where it is stored at about −160 °C.
▪ The final stage is loading the LNG into specialized cryogenic transport tankers with control of temperature, pressure and product quantity.
Thus, the path from natural gas to finished LNG is a complex technological chain: preparation → purification → deep dehydration → liquefaction → storage → loading.
Natural gas liquefaction technologies expand the possibilities for its use and create conditions for the development of natural gas motor fuel in the transport, industrial, housing and utilities sectors.
