On 30 September, a new compressed natural gas (CNG) refuelling station operating under the QazaqGaz Onimderi brand officially opened in Almaty’s Kok-Kainar neighbourhood. The station is designed to supply CNG for motor vehicles. The project was implemented jointly with Almaty Building &Co LLP.
The new station has a capacity of 4,400 m³ per hour. It is equipped with eight gas dispensers and 16 refuelling points, enabling it to serve more than 300 buses per day.
“As part of government programmes, the country’s CNG refuelling network is being developed across several key areas. An approved plan for the development of compressed natural gas infrastructure is being implemented. QazaqGaz currently has six company-owned CNG stations and two stations operating under franchise agreements. As part of the network’s further expansion, the next station is planned to open in Zharkent. Several additional CNG stations are also scheduled to open next year,” said Alibek Zhamauov, Chairman of the Management Board of NC QazaqGaz JSC.
“For our company, this project is part of a long-term strategy to develop the QazaqGaz Onimderi network. We plan to continue building more than 20 modern gas refuelling stations across various regions of Kazakhstan,” said Madi Abulgazin, founder of Almaty Building &Co LLP.
The opening of the new station will improve access to natural gas as a vehicle fuel, reduce pressure on the city’s existing refuelling infrastructure and provide more reliable CNG refuelling for motor vehicles.
